Cheshire Day is taking place on Monday 30th March and is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in the county to celebrate its history, culture, and way of life. Marked each year with a wide range of activities, from parades and special events to exhibitions, unique food and drink menus, and much more, it brings communities together to showcase everything that makes Cheshire special.
The day celebrates everything that makes Cheshire special, from its legendary cheeses and forest-foraged gins to mythical cats and historic tea parties. There’s truly something for everyone to enjoy, and Cheshire plays a huge part for GB hospitality. We’ve lived, worked, and spent many enjoyable days and evenings soaking up all it has to offer.
This Cheshire Day, we’re shining the spotlight on our Client Services Director, Lianne Dempsey, who lives and works in the county. Proud to call Cheshire home, Lianne shares what makes it such a special place to live, along with some of her favourite local spots and experiences.

Everyday Walks & Peaceful Escapes
For Lianne, one of the biggest joys of living in Cheshire is how easy it is to step outside and switch off. The Bridgewater Canal has become part of her everyday routine, offering peaceful walks just moments from home and the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.
She often heads to Lymm Dam when she wants a quick nature break, enjoying the scenic loop, the abundance of wildlife, and the chance to get out with family and friends. Marbury Park is another favourite, with its woodland trails and lake views creating the perfect setting for a quiet reset – especially when there’s time to stop and watch the birds! For longer walks away from the crowds, Marshalls Arm is a hidden gem that offers a real sense of calm.
Village Life & Local Charm
A big part of Cheshire’s appeal for Lianne is its sense of community, and nowhere captures that better than Lymm Village…
With its charming centre, independent shops, and relaxed weekend atmosphere, it’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.
That slower pace is something Lianne enjoys, especially compared to the pace of city life, Cheshire offers a more laid-back way of living, where friendly faces and a strong community feel are part of everyday life
Days out
When it comes to making the most of weekends, Cheshire has no shortage of beautiful places to explore. Dunham Massey is a firm favourite, with its historic estate and wide-open grounds providing the perfect backdrop for long, relaxed walks. A visit wouldn’t be complete without stopping at the café, where the farm-made ice cream (produced on site) is a must.
Tatton Park is another standout, offering a mix of gardens, deer park, and seasonal events that keep it feeling lively all year round. It’s a place that continues to create memories, and one Lianne is especially looking forward to revisiting this summer for the 2026 Chamboree with the Beavers.

Coffee, pubs & Lianne’s Local Favourites
Of course, no local guide or recommendation would be complete without a few favourite spots to eat and drink. For Lianne, local coffee stops like The Coffee House and Avanti Coffee Van are her go to choices. Both are known for their friendly teams and great coffee and they’re a hit with her kids too, which always helps.
For something more relaxed, The Swan With Two Nicks offers a cosy, traditional country pub atmosphere with good food and a welcoming feel. It’s the perfect place to meet friends and makes an ideal stop along the Bridgewater Canal when heading towards Dunham Massey.
Living & working in Cheshire
Cheshire isn’t just where Lianne unwinds, it’s also where she works and builds strong connections. With many of her clients based at Birchwood Park, it’s a great place to grow within the local business community while staying close to home.
Whether you’re heading out for a peaceful walk, exploring a local village, or enjoying great food and drink, Cheshire Day is the perfect time to celebrate everything the county has to offer.
Here’s to celebrating all things local, and the people who make Cheshire such a special place to live and work!
