  • Tom Parker of The White Swan at Fence
  • Ellis Barrie of Lerpwl, Liverpool
  • Paul Leonard, The Forest Side, Grasmere
  • And the host for the night, Paul Askew of The Art School, Liverpool!

Gaynor, owner of GB Hospitality, is a Northern Board Member and Ambassador for Hospitality Action and it was as always a privilege to support the event, and to host our clients to showcase the utter importance of the work the charity continues to carry out.

Over the past couple of years, the hospitality industry within the U.K. has directly been impacted by numerous issues; a pandemic, Brexit , recruitment of staff, and a cost of living crisis with a recession looming in the background. It’s an incredibly challenging time for all who work within the industry, and Hospitality Action are there to provide any support for those who may find themselves in crisis.

Recent figures from Hospitality Action show that during this Autumn alone, they have seen a 30% increase in applications for financial support, while more than 50% of applications are presenting with household issues such as struggling to pay rent or utility bills with a threat of homelessness.  35% of their beneficiaries are now directly receiving mental health issues in their application, as a direct impact of financial issues.

In 2021/2022, some of the main reasons for awarding grants included 27% for in-work poverty, 17.7% illness/ disability (short term) and 12.4 household arrears.

For Team GB, we simply cannot praise just how important the services that Hospitality Action is for industry folks, just like ourselves. If you would like to support the incredible work that they do, they have a fantastic and best-selling cook book ‘Chefs at Home’ available to purchase, with 100% of the royalties being donated to the charities work.
